The Pierce Brothers- The Night Tree EP

Don't know much about these guys, heard them on Triple J I know they hail from Melbourne. This EP is really assured the songs are folk based, the brothers' harmonies are strong and polished. The great thing about this EP is it's not derivative there is no formula they aren't copying anyone. The standout track is Golden Times there is a sense of confidence in their sound, there storytelling has a home grown bent and the music matches. Tallest Teepee in Town has a more expansive sound, a portent of things to come perhaps. White Whale has some nice harmonies to open, lyrically it captures that sense of a wide and open land. The deluxe version of the EP has three live tracks that were recorded live at the Northcote Social Club, definitely a must to catch live. You will be hearing more from these guys I'm sure.
